Managing Director and Chief Examiner
Professional Biography
Mike Rumble is the founder and managing director of Lie Director Test UK Services Limited, one of the UK’s most respected polygraph examination services. With nearly 3 decades of experience spanning law enforcement, legal advocacy, and polygraph examination, Mike brings a unique perspective to truth verification that few examiners can match.
His career began with 28 years as a detective with West Midlands Police, specialising in serious sexual offences and complex criminal investigations. After being assaulted on duty and forced into early retirement, Mike retrained as a legal advocate with the Law Society of England and Wales, gaining invaluable insight into both sides of the criminal justice system.
Mike’s entry into polygraph examination was driven by a critical question during his Police and Crime Commissioner campaign: how to improve conviction rates for serious sexual offences when traditional evidence methods fall short. This led him to train at the prestigious Backster School of Lie Detection in Bulgaria, one of the premier American Polygraph Association–accredited programmes in the world.
Today, Mike is certified by both the American Polygraph Association and the UK Polygraph Association. He is particularly recognised for his work in safeguarding vulnerable individuals, having played a key role in criminal cases involving coercive control. His expertise combines scientific rigour, ethical integrity, and genuine compassion for clients facing difficult situations.
